The next-generation Apple Watch and iPhone 15 are expected to be unveiled at Apple's product update event on September 12 Tuesday. According to rumors and early reports, the iPhone's screen will move closer to the device's edges, the dynamic island feature, which gives users more display space, and a number of modules will be standard on all devices, and the charger may replace the lightning cable with a standardized USB-C.
Longtime Apple insider and leaker Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims that Apple designers have long
fantasized about building an iPhone with a screen that covers the entire front of the device, leaving no borders or cutouts for cameras or sensors.
According to Bloomberg, Apple's iPhone 15 will move them one step closer to that objective by removing the cutout at the top of the screen that houses the camera and facial recognition sensor and placing those two components behind a "dynamic island" that uses new technology to enable them to operate from underneath the screen and allows the user to display a variety of interactive modules, such as quick access to maps or pausing and playing music.
The more expensive iPhone 14 Pro model already has that dynamic island feature in place, but according to Bloomberg, all iPhone 15 models will come standard with it.
According to Bloomberg, the borders of the more expensive Pro and Pro Max versions of the iPhone 15 will be.7 millimetres narrower than those of the current model, which have borders that measure 2.2 millimeters.
Additionally, a number of reports, such as those from Bloomberg, Tom's Guide, and Inc.com, suggest that the iPhone's charger may switch from its exclusive lightning cable technology to USB-C, a standardized connector used throughout the tech industry. The European Union is mandating this change, but North American regulators haven't established any such requirements.
According to Inc.com, there are also claims that some new iPhone 15 models may be made of titanium rather than aluminium and that the device may have a camera with a "periscope lens," a cutting-edge innovation that employs a system of mirrors to create a higher-quality optical zoom.
