iPhone 15 Tipped to Offer Slower Transfer Speeds With the Bundled USB Type-C Cable

The iPhone 15 series is rumored to go on sale at an Apple launch event the following month. The newest smartphone lineup is likely to include a number of enhancements, including a new charging connector and an improved back camera system.

In contrast to the rumored USB Type-C port, the iPhone 15 series will reportedly allow Thunderbolt connectivity. But according to a new source, the cable that comes with the iPhone 15 will only allow USB 2.0 connectivity, which implies that it will only enable slower charging and transfer speeds than a cable that is compatible with USB 4 or Thunderbolt.

Majin Bu (@MajinBuOfficial), a user of X (formerly known as Twitter), posted pictures of what appears to be the USB Type-C cable that will be included with the iPhone 15. He claims that the cable will be 1.6 meters long and have 16 connectors. Compared to the current Apple USB Type-C to Lightning charging cords, it is said to be more robust and thicker.

The cable that comes with the iPhone 15 will reportedly allow 20V at 3A charging and USB 2.0 connectivity. According to information that has emerged about the cable, the bundled adapter will support data transfers at speeds of up to 480Mbps.

Recently, information about the rumored iPhone 15 cables was released by the same X user. These cords were 1.5 meters long, had a braided style, and were colored to match the iPhone in the box. Take these assertions with a grain of salt, though, as the tipper said that they were unable to confirm the origin of the photographs.
